| Summary: | Politics, religion and democracy in Brazil$dA dialogue with Habermas, Taylor and Eagleton O presente artigo procura discutir as complexas relações entre política, religião e democracia. Para tanto, apresento formulações recentes sobre o tema elaboradas por três filósofos contemporâneos, a saber: Jürgen Habermas, Charles Taylor e Terry Eagleton. Em seguida, tomando como base as questões levantadas por esses autores, procuro sugerir novas possibilidades de reflexão em torno deste problema para pensar o Brasil. A ideia a ser sustentada é a de que os cientistas sociais podem contribuir para a identificação de agendas públicas comuns que estimulem o diálogo entre segmentos religiosos e não religiosos em torno de temáticas que possam contribuir para a expansão da democracia brasileira. This paper aims to discuss the complex relationship between politics, religion and democracy. To that end, I present recent interpretations on the subject elaborated by three contemporary philosophers, namely: Jürgen Habermas, Charles Taylor and Terry Eagleton. Furthermore, based on the issues raised by these authors, I suggest new possibilities of reflection on this matter that can be used when considering this complex relationship in Brazil. The idea to be supported is that social scientists can contribute in the identification of common public agendas capable of encouraging dialogue between religious and nonreligious groups concerning topics that will further and deepen democracy in Brazil. |
