| Summary: | A religião, a qual se apresenta para a saúde psíquica ora de forma favorável em Jung, ora desfavorável em Freud, é uma variável importante para se compreender o comportamento humano. Jung sublinha que a vivência religiosa leva à experiência da individuação. O artigo apresenta duas visões sobre a compreensão do conceito de religião. Primeiramente, abordam-se as afirmações de Freud (psicanálise e religião). Em segundo, as considerações de Jung (psicologia analítica), em que se exploram os conceitos de sua psicologia. O texto prioriza a proposta de Jung em relação à concepção humanizante em decorrência da experiência religiosa que emerge por meio da direção espiritual, cuja finalidade consiste em promover o processo de individuação no desvelar do aconselhamento espiritual. Religion, which presents itself to the mental health sometimes favorably in Jung, sometimes unfavorable in Freud, is an important variable to understand human behavior. Jung emphasizes that religious experience leads to the experience of individuation. This article presents two views about the comprehension of the concept of religion. First, discusses the claims of Freud (psychoanalysis and religion). Second, the considerations of Jung (analytical psychology), which exploit the concepts of his psychology. The text emphasizes the proposal of Jung about humanizing conception as a result of religious experience that emerges through spiritual direction, which aims to promote the process of individuation in the unveiling of spiritual counseling.
