Este trabalho procura pôr em evidência a crítica que Baruch de Espinosa faz à maneira como as ortodoxias religiosas, cristãs e judaicas, usavam, na Europa do século XVII, a Bíblia como justificativa para a ação politica. Nesse afã, o filósofo acaba se antecipando à futura crítica literária da Bíblia que se iniciaria no século seguinte. | ||

Religion's bearing on political, economical and social institutions has been the object of the studies by many important thinkers from ancient through contemporary times. This paper seeks to shed some Iight on Baruch Spinoza's critique of the ways by which 17 th century, European forms of religious orthodoxy, both Christian and Jewish, used the Bible in order to justify political action.
