| Summary: | The 21st century is marked throughout the world by population aging and increased life expectancy, which is also part of the Brazilian scenario. In the 2010 census, 1.61% of the total number of elderly people were aged 100 or over. The objective was to analyze the impact of religiosity on elderly people and the contribution of the spiritual dimension to advanced longevity. In order to do so, we used a systematic review in the texts of the electronic databases, as well as: Google Scholar, LILACS, SCIELO, CAPES with publication between 2013 and 2017, complete articles, published in Portuguese, English and Spanish, dissertations and theses. As spiritual disciplines practiced by centenarian elders, studies were observed from praying, meditating, and attending worship. Such people with advanced longevity revere God and life. The results of this study show religiosity as a positive impact factor for elderly people and the spiritual dimension can contribute to an advanced longevity.. |
