Summary:From the second century on the Gnostics have been accused to use Aristotelian logic, and in particular syllogistic argumentation, for their demonstrations on the nature of Christ. Aristotle's Categories and his treatise on Interpretation are quite evidently used in these discussions. But the same logic arguments are applied by their detractors as well. Syllogism was used in the debates on the origin of the universe which themselves were based on and took argument of the demonstrations made by ancient physicians on the transmission of life and the formation of the embryo.
