Description
Summary:This article intends to approach the phenomenon of contemporaryreligious hybridizations, which characterises the so-called New Age movement. Its focus is not the religious transit of modern individuals among differentreligious forms, but a look at the nuclei that constitute that ‘alternative network, searching for their common functional dynamic and a topography among theseautonomous spaces. I did so through the case study of some specific centres andnuclei in Juiz de Fora, MG, employing concepts such as ‘re-enchantment’,‘disenchantment’, ‘orientalization’, ‘energy’, ‘therapy’ and ‘syncretism’in theattempt to sketch a profile of a religious phenomenon that, due to its diffusecharacter, resists attempts at classification.
