Summary:Until recently the church has initiated and controlled education in the Western world. Today education has become independent. Friction between school and church exists. The church cannot do its work unless there is close co-operation between scholar and ecclesiastic. The church must give religious meaning to the facts of the universe It cannot ignore these facts and live. The leaders of the church therefore must be thoroughly trained and keenly sensitive to the value of scholarship.
