| Summary: | The manuscript Verona, Biblioteca Capitolare IV fol. 6 is part of the Old Latin fragments belonging to n° 182 in the Vetus Latina repertory. In addition to a fragment of Ezekiel (Ezek 36:22-28) which has already been edited, the manuscript transmits a «reading of the prophet Daniel with a canticle» consisting of Dan 1:1-2, 3:1-96 under its vulgate form with the exception of the Prayer of Azariah (3:26-45) which is Old Latin. Unlike the Vulgate verses, vv. 26-45 have never been edited. This article does that and gives a commentary on the text of the prayer. It arrives at the conclusion that 182 is a witness to the European text of Daniel close to 177 (Würzburg palimpsest) and Augustine (who quotes the Prayer of Azariah in his letter 111). Le manuscrit Verona, Biblioteca Capitolare IV fol. 6 fait partie des fragments vieux latins repris sous le n° 182 du répertoire de la Vetus Latina. En plus d’un fragment d’Ezéchiel (Ez 36,22-28) déjà édité, le manuscrit transmet une «leçon du prophète Daniel avec cantique» reprenant Dn 1,1-2; 3,1-96 sous forme vulgate à l’exception du cantique d’Azarias (3,26-45) qui est vieux latin. Contrairement aux versets vulgates, les vv. 26-45 n’ont jamais été édités. L’article les édite et commente le texte du cantique. Il aboutit à la conclusion que 182 est un témoin du texte européen de Daniel proche de 177 (palimpseste de Würzburg) et d’Augustin (qui cite le cantique d’Azarias dans sa lettre 111) |
