Yet this was a quite understandable reaction to the traumatic experience of the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 ce. In the case of the Little Synoptic Apocalypse (Mark 13:1-37 par.), eschatological violence is but an outcome of the First Judeo-Roman War, while in the Apocalypse of Peter it is a direct consequence of the Bar Kokhba revolt. We propose to put these apocalyptic texts into a historical perspective, which will also help to better bring out the philo- or anti-Judean attitudes of their authors and communities. | ||

Il s’agit pourtant d’une réaction tout à fait compréhensible au traumatisme de la destruction de Jérusalem par les Romains en 70 de notre ère. Dans le cas de la « petite apocalypse synoptique » (Marc 13,1-37 par.), la violence eschatologique s’inscrit dans le prolongement de la Première guerre judéo-romaine, tandis que, pour l’Apocalypse de Pierre, c’est une conséquence de la révolte de Bar Kokhba. Nous nous proposons de mettre ces textes apocalyptiques dans une perspective historique qui contribuera aussi à mieux faire ressortir les attitudes philo- ou anti-judéennes de leurs auteurs et communautés respectives. | ||
