| Summary: | Poetry has always aroused a feeling of fullness and mystery. Its ability to reach the exact center of things has been seen as proof of a mysterious origin. Where does this word that can lead us humans towards life’s greatest depths and heights come from? In the following pages, we’ll stop to examine the three authors who, in the Greco-Roman tradition, founded Western Poetics: Plato, Aristotle and Horace. To them we can trace the first critical effort to systematize the process of poetic creation. We’ve also learned from them that poetry is one of the most serious ways of inhabiting our world. By embracing their works, we discover the possibilities and the dangers that surround that long journeyed word of ours. La poesía ha despertado siempre una sensación de plenitud y de misterio. Su capacidad de alcanzar el centro exacto de las cosas ha sido vista como la prueba de un origen extraño. ¿De dónde viene esta palabra que puede conducir al ser humano a los abismos y a los techos más altos de la vida? Las páginas que siguen detienen la mirada en los tres autores que, en la tradición grecolatina, fundan la Poética de Occidente: Platón, Aristóteles y Horacio. A ellos debemos el primer esfuerzo crítico por sistematizar el proceso de creación poética. De ellos, además, hemos aprendido que la poesía es una de las formas más serias de habitar el mundo. Caminando de su mano, descubrimos las posibilidades y los peligros que encierra una palabra tan nuestra y venida de tan lejos. |
