| Summary: | The Nanzan Institute for Religion and Culture began hosting the Nanzan Seminar in 2013 as a venue for international graduate students to discuss their research on Japanese religions and receive feedback from Japanese scholars. The seminar provides a rare opportunity for non-native Japanese speakers to present their work in a casual and supportive academic setting. This year’s participants traveled from Europe, the United States, and Kansai to present on the current status of their dissertation research. Topics ranged from contemporary Buddhist youth organizations to medieval taxonomies of deities, and each presentation was followed by comments and, hopefully, fruitful discussion. |
