Sa compilation encyclopédique sur la Genèse a été imprimée deux fois dans la PL, mais jamais son commentaire sur les Évangiles. À un certain moment des années 790, une épitomé du commentaire de Wigbod sur les Évangiles fut préparée à laquelle fut ajoutée l’épitomé d’une autre œuvre sur la Genèse, l’Explanatio sex dierum qu’on peut lui attribuer sans risque. L’épitomé des commentaires de Wigbod sur la Genèse et les Évangiles est conservée dans deux manuscrits du IXe s. Munich Clm 14854 et Karlsruhe Aug. perg. 255. Dans un document, Wigbod est donné comme abbas presbyter et il représentait Charlemagne, en Angleterre à des synodes où Alcuin était présent, mais on ne sait où il résidait, où il travaillait. Diverses autres œuvres exégétiques mineures peuvent aussi être attribuées à Wigbod Wigbod‘s various commentaries mark the beginning of the history of biblical exegesis in the Carolingian era. His encyclopedic compilation on Genesis, which was addressed to Charlemagne, is printed twice in the Patrologia Latina, but his commentary on the Gospels has never been published. At some point in the 790s an epitome of Wigbod‘s commentary on the Gospels was prepared, to which was added an epitome of another work on Genesis which can confidently be attributed to him, Explanatio sex dierum. The epitome of Wigbod‘s commentaries on Genesis and the Gospels is found in two ninth-century manuscripts, Munich Clm 14854 and Karlsruhe Aug. perg. 255. Wigbod is described in one document as abbas presbyter and he represented Charlemagne at synods in England in 786 where Alcuin was present, although it is not known where he lived and Worked. Various other minor exegetical works can also be attributed to Wigbod. |
