Summary: | Tina Fetner's tightly written monograph tells the story of two social movements, the gay and lesbian movement and the religious right, from the middle through the end of the twentieth century. Writing from the perspective of social movement theory, Fetner argues that the two can be seen as opposing movements, and sets out to determine how the gay and lesbian movement and the religious right influenced each other. Because of the disparity in size and resources between the two movements, and as her title implies, she focuses on the religious right's substantial influence on the gay and lesbian movement. |
