| Summary: | The question is raised as to whether or not the restriction of Negro occupational opportunities requires modifications in the use of occupation as an index of social class in a Negro community. From a study of attitudes of Negroes in a Southern City it is concluded that occupation is considered a significant criterion of evaluation in the Negro community. The results are compared with the National Opinion Research Council study with respect to the ranking of occupations and the criteria of evaluation. |
