Résumé: | The American Catholic sociologist does not project a clear image to either fellow Catholics nor to non-Catholic sociologists, despite the efforts of outstanding representatives. Basically, the dilemma seems to be attributable to a lack of understanding of the relationships among the various approaches to reality on the part of Catholics, to difficulty in harmonizing scientific objectivity with values on the part of sociologists who are not Catholics, and to a shirking of personal responsibility to modify faulty images on the part of many members of the American Catholic Sociological Society. |
