Description
Summary:Content analysis of independent religious periodicals is used to investigate attitudes toward women in the occupational role of ministry/priesthood. The general hypothesis that there is resistance to change in the traditional ministry/priesthood role is demonstrated. Less than one per cent of articles dealt with this issue. Time period, theological position of the periodical, and gender of authors had little effect on attitude. The only real change seen is that coverage of the issue is greater during the latter five years studied. The ministry/priesthood role appears to remain in its traditional shape.
