Description
Summary:This study examines the effect of religion on the trust and distrust people have in others. Data show that the image people have of others is rooted in a complex array of life experiences which incorporates both religious behavior and theology. The data show that membership in liberal churches is associated with trust and fundamentalist churches with distrust. Yet, increased church attendance, irrespective of denomination, tends to increase one's sense of trust. These findings suggest that social interaction has a greater effect than theology on people's view of human nature.
