Summary: | The attitudes of fundamentalists and feminists toward pornography are investigated. While members of both groups share an antipathy toward pornography, and tend to support the legal suppression of sexually explicit materials, doctrinally conservative Christians and feminists do not seem to agree on a common rationale. A recursive path model shows that feminists oppose pornography for its alleged exploitive effects on women, while fundamentalists base their opposition on the belief that pornography leads to the breakdown of morals. |
