Description
Summary:A 1992 nationwide survey of Catholic parishes produced usable information on 1682 parishes. Parish size was a strong predictor of per-household giving -- the smaller the parish, the higher the level. Parishes with schools and parishes with highly-educated parishioners had higher per-household contributions. Parishes with a high percentage of Hispanic members and parishes in the East had relatively lower per-household giving. Parishes with regularly-scheduled fund-raisers such as bingo had relatively low per-household giving. Level of involvement in parish life and a sense of ownership appear to encourage higher giving.
