Résumé:The definition of the prophet in the Gospel of John is implied in the narrative rather than stated, which fits with the literary genre of the Gospel: a faith-oriented biography rather than a philosophical treatise. Accordingly, the here taken method consists in reviewing the situations where Jesus is characterised as a prophet rather than starting from a given definition of the prophet.
