Description
Summary:The contribution aims to re-read the current processes of the sacralization of nature against the background of a centuries-old history of the sacred typical of the West that has led to the emergence of a secular sacred distinct from a religious sacred. After reflecting on the problematic concept of nature / Nature (part 2) and hinting at the main phases that the sacred has known in the Western tradition (part 3 and 4), the article focuses on the current processes of the sacralization of nature (part 5). They can be of two types, depending on whether they refer to a religious sacred, as in the case of the neo-pagan currents which constitute an important component of ecological spirituality, or secular, as in the case of radical non-religious environmentalism.
