| Summary: | In this article will be discuss the notion of “kharijism” as political concept in the contemporary world. The schism of kharijites, occurred in the VII century, didn't have just a historical importance: this concept was also at the centre of the theoretical discussion between al-Azhar ̓ulamā and Sayyid Quṭb, well-known character in the middle XX century in Egypt. After the analyze of the notion of “kharijism”, it will be possible to understand the political meaning of the conflict between the radicalism of Quṭb and the positions of al-Azhar and, eventually, understand the clash islām-modernity and the different solutions that the Arab world proposes to solve it. |
