Description
Summary:Sermon preparation literature is often viewed rather skeptically in homiletics, and it is usually not a topic in biblical studies. However, since preachers usually do not have the time and resources to deal with the current exegetical literature, sermon preparation literature has an important and responsible function. It can help to ensure that sermons are prepared with attention to the plausible historical meanings of the biblical text. This can help to prevent false and potentially harmful historical explanations and evaluations. It can also release creative potential and facilitate the discovery of new points of connection between the situation of the text and the situation of the sermon.
