Description
Summary:This paper discusses dietary guidelines proposed by the Seicho-no-Ie, a Japanese New Religion that has been established in Brazil in the 1930s. Since its founding this new religion relates food with individual destiny and with the spiritual enhancement, specially through the abstinence of meat-based dishes. Nowadays, these dietary guidelines seek to meet environmental issues, for this reason the table becomes a place to cultivate the well-being and spiritual harmony with nature. The study is divided into three dimensions: dietary, ritualistic, and ecologic, which convey a nuance of religious sense of food engaged by the Seicho-no-Ie.
