Syria's Alawis and Shi'ism

Syria's Alawi ruling circles are accused by many of Syria's Sunnis of being beyond the pale of Islam and therefore undeserving of rule. The present study examines the several Alawi attempts to gain acceptance as Twelver Shi'is.
