| Summary: | This paper highlights a peculiarity of Paul’s attitude towards his opponents in I Corinthians: the accusation of behaving like wise men ‘ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ’ (I Cor 3. 18). The emphasis on the element of praxis in I Corinthians, in which the Corinthians are accused of contamination with Hellenistic philosophy, has been compared with the Judaic text of Wisdom (Ws 2. 1-12), in which the portrait of the ‘ἀσεβεῖς’ (Ws 1. 16) displays several features typically associated with common imagery about philosophers. It will be stressed, thus, the gap between Paul’s depiction of his adversaries as emulating Hellenistic philosophical practices and an actual Corinthian praxis, based upon the performance of a realized eschatology.Lo scopo di questo articolo è quello di mettere in luce una peculiarità della strategia retorica adottata da Paolo in 1Cor: l’accusa, rivolta agli avversari, di comportarsi come sapienti «ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ» (1Cor 3:18). L’enfasi posta in 1Cor sull’elemento della prassi, che sembra alludere a una contaminazione con la filosofia ellenistica, verrà confrontata con quella testimoniata da Sapienza (Sap 2:1-12), in cui il ritratto degli «ἀσεβεῖς» (Sap 1:16) si fonda su stereotipi tipicamente associati alle scuole di pensiero ellenistiche. Questa indagine aspira pertanto a mettere dare risalto allo scarto tra il ritratto degli avversari di Paolo nella Lettera e una prassi teologicamente fondata, ispirata dall’attuazione di un’escatologia realizzata. |
