Description
Summary:This paper compares the replies of 299 lay people and 256 clergy within one Church of England diocese to a detailed questionnaire concerning their views on establishment and disestablishment. The data demonstrate that, overall, support for the outward signs of establishment are higher among the laity than among the clergy. The implications of these findings are discussed for the future of implicit religion within English society.
