| Summary: | This article presents the methodological paths and results of a research about art in the indigenous material culture of the pre-colonial amazonia, which was found by archaeologists in the region of Oriximiná, north of Brazil. A place that was understood as ceremonial. This article analyzes the iconography of this ceramics to understand the relationship between Amerindian art and shamanic practices in the Amazon. In the artifact studied here, we note the strong relationship between Amazonian cosmologies and the aquatic universe, a highlight here for the Tucunaré fish, which is represented with an anthropomorphic form, that is, a mixture of human and animal, something common in the cultures of the South American indigenous peoples. |
