Summary: | The present essay aims at presenting a comparative analysis between The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and Jair Bolsonaro’s discourses regarding public morality in Brazil during the 2018 presidential elections. I conducted qualitative analysis of articles published on the newspaper Folha Universal and on the church’s official website as well as Facebook post publishes in Bolsonaro’s official page between August 16 and October 2018. The analysis was based on the Interpretative Packages theory proposed by William Gamson and conducted using the software MaxQDA. The results showed that the UCKG and Bolsonaro worked to disseminate the interpretative package of regulatory morality. However, while the first one use a religious argumentative line, the second one adopted a political argumentation to the problem. |
