Description
Summary:Mixing rhythm and poetry, rap, a peripheral musical genre, is constantly crossed by issues of class, race and gender. But religion, even if it goes unnoticed by most of the public, constitutes itself as a significant phenomenon of language, expression of peripheral identity, as important as other themes and elements mobilized by rap. Thus, the purpose of this article is to relate rap, education and religion. The article will therefore be divided into three parts: (a) a brief history of rap as an object of research; (b) some rapprochement strategies and religion; and finally, (c) we will show rap as a pedagogical tool for new approaches in Religious Education. Our hypothesis is that rap, as a cultural phenomenon, which includes religion as a constitutive part of its narrative, potentiates teaching-learning processes.
