Summary:Although there is a voluminous literature on the use of traditional healers by ethnic minorities, their use by psychiatric patients has been little studied. This study looks at the use of traditional healers by Asian psychiatric patients. Five of the sample of 14 patients had consulted a traditional healer at some time during their psychiatric illness. Three case histories are presented.
