Description
Summary:Mankind is yearning for global peace. During the twentieth century a number of international treaties, like the Covenant of the League of Nations, the General Treaty for the Renunciation of War and the Charter of United Nations, were signed declaring war to be illegal in the settlement of disputes. Despite these conventions, there have been wars and we have not seen the peace that was intended and agreed by the signatory nations. These conventions failed to achieve the desired goal because these human laws lack that moral and spiritual force that is essential for achieving comprehensive peace. Without divine guidance and revealed truth, human laws lack any force of conviction. Only divine moral laws can lead to universal peace and mould human conduct for international brotherhood and love. Those moral laws can be recognized by human minds only if those minds are cleansed of all pride and prejudice. Within this context, the present paper is an attempt to give the reader a sense of Qur’anic and Prophetic model of peaceful co-existence. The paper also throws light on Qur’anic vision of a just social order as exemplified in the life of Prophet of Islam. It is this context the present paper has analyzed.
