Description
Summary:The purpose of the article is to describe the main trends of interconfessional representations in the first years of the newly proclaimed Republic of Latvia, focusing on two main religious groups of the day, namely, Evangelical Lutherans and Roman Catholics and analyse the press of both aforementioned communities published between 1920 and 1924. There is no doubt that the period in question offers us only a limited and somewhat peculiar fragment of the history of mutual imagination in the case of Lutherans and Roman Catholics in Latvia, however, it seems remarkable, for it was the time when both confessions encountered each other in the circumstances of young and democratic state.
