Summary:The main objective of this article is to provide a brief general overview on research development of the conversion, which could be useful for new researchers of conversion, and students who wish to become acquainted with this phenomenon. The first part of the article looks at issues related to the definition of the conversion and translation in the Latvian language and research development of the phenomenon. The next part is a series of key issues addressed to the conversion which each researcher should answer before starting conversion studies. The paper concludes with a general insight into the two most popular conversion process models, which are Lofland-Stark model and the Rambo model.
