| Summary: | Cosmology renewed its status as a science in 1917 and was quickly confronted with questions about the origins, or at least the beginning, of its object. Its progress until now has been affected by a more or less latent conflict with other discourses on the Everything: this has been alternately a help or an obstacle. Its present standard model seems capable of describing almost everything about the observable universe’s history. If it must dig deeper and deeper into this almost, it ought to specify that it ventures into speculation. La cosmologie, redevenue science en 1917, s’est rapidement confrontée aux questions d’origine, à tout le moins de commencement, de son objet. Son développement depuis un siècle est baigné d’un conflit plus ou moins latent avec d’autres discours sur le Tout. Ce conflit a pu et peut encore, parfois inhiber, parfois favoriser, son progrès. Son modèle standard actuel semble pouvoir décrire « presque » toute l’histoire de l’univers observé. Elle se doit de chercher de plus en plus profond dans ce « presque » tout en exprimant alors clairement son entrée en spéculation. |
