Description
Summary:In this virtual presentation, the authors will introduce the topic of faith integration for potential implementation in faith-based institutions. Many higher education institutions, especially those that are Christian-based, are increasingly considering faith integration as an academic discipline to be infused within the faculty’s own field of specialization. Consequently, they are requiring faculty members to integrate faith in teaching, scholarship and service. This means that those faculty who have been educated and teaching in primarily secular institutions face great challenges in acquiring the knowledge and skills required to become proficient in faith integration. They need guidance, support, and specialized faith integration resources to assist them in meeting this "new" professional expectation. In this session, we hope that participants will be engaged in the conversation and share their perspectives on this topic. In addition, the authors will discuss ideas based on their experiences in addressing faith integration in their own institutions. Finally the authors will suggest an action plan and provide a useful annotated bibliography of faith integration materials to help faculty get started on this journey.
