Description
Summary:The 2016 US presidential election has elicited a wide array of analyses, investigations, and comments in light of the success obtained by an uncommon candidate and, for some, an unexpected winner: Donald Trump. His more-than-positive acceptance from major religious right organizations and from a large share of the demographic known as white conservative Christians is here analyzed through the lens of a triangular relationship. This was sustained by elements such as a narrative of religious freedom under threat and by the specific social imaginary belonging to a category of citizens who are witnessing a perceived decline of their status as majoritarian cultural and ethnic group in the country.
