| Summary: | In the article I present the sociologic analysis of the monastic vocations number of lay sisters and brothers in Poland in the years 1900-2017, taking into account the current Roman Catholic Church statistics and results of various scientific studies on this topic. The article I study the number of male and female candidates for monastic life, admitted to the religious communities at that time and the number of lay sisters and brothers who have made their temporary and solemn religious vows, staying permanently in their convents and congregations. Moreover, I consider the number of male and female candidates who have resigned from the monastic formation and the number of lay sisters and brothers who stopped their stay in the convent and returned to secular life. The article raises the very important issue - the dynamics of recruitment, accomplishment and continuation of the monastic life of women and men during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II in the years 1978-2005. I answer the question whether and to what extent the number of applications from men and women to religious convents increased in this period? I answer the same question in the case of the number of lay sisters and brothers in comparison to the previous period. How many of them abandoned the monastic formation and the stay in their religious communities and then returned to secular life? The dynamics of recruitment, formation, accomplishment and persistence of monastic vocations of lay sisters and brothers in the assumed period of 110 years in Poland was very diverse and hesitant in its pace - we find in it both a large increase in the number of vocations and the visible crisis of this dynamics in some years of this period. In the context of monastic vocations inother Catholic countries in Europe, vocations in Poland were increasing then more rapidly and in much larger quantities - although they did not avoid the crisis and the collapse of the earlier dynamics. Problem badawczy podjęty w tym artykule można ująć w postaci pytania: Jak kształtowały się losy zakonnych powołań kobiecych - sióstr i męskich - braci w Polsce w latach 1900-2017 w świetle istniejących statystyk kościelnych i wyników badań socjologicznych? Odpowiadając na to pytanie, należy wziąć pod uwagę zarówno liczebność kandydatów obojga płci do życia zakonnego, przyjmowanych do wspólnot zakonnych w różnych przedziałach czasowych tego okresu, jak i na liczebność sióstr i braci, którzy w tym czasie już tam złożyli czasowe lub trwałe śluby zakonne. W tym celu posłużę się techniką tabel statystycznych i metodą analizy danych ukazujących dynamikę tych powołań. W analizie uwzględnię także wskaźniki tych powołań w innych krajach katolickich na świecie i w Europie, chcąc w ten sposób ukazać specyfikę ich naboru i realizacji w Polsce. Ważną kwestią będzie też sytuacja powołań zakonnych w Polsce w podokresie pontyfikatu Jana Pawła II, ponieważ w tym okresie powołania te były liczniejsze niż w okresie wcześniejszym (Baniak, 1984; 1985a,b,c,d,e; 1986). |
