| Summary: | The article discusses, in reference to Mafessoli’s "new tribalism," the process of the founding and development of the first local surfers’ church in the insular part of the city of Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina in Brazil, where the culture of surfers has been very strong for several decades. Taking advantage of Mafessoli’stheory, the author presents, in the context of the collected data, arguments for the possibility of recognizing the first "Surfers’ Church" as an example of a new religious tribal community. Floripa to popularna nazwa wyspiarskiej części stolicy stanu Santa Catarina w Brazylii - Florianópolis. Pojawiłam się tutaj po raz pierwszy pod koniec 2014 r. i spędziłam kilka miesięcy na tutejszym uniwersytecie federalnym (UFSC), zajmując się razem z zespołem brazylijskich religioznawców i socjologów religii badaniami brazylijskiego rynku religijnego w ramach stypendium Fellow Mundus. Wróciłam w to samo miejsce prawie cztery lata później, w grudniu 2017 r., w ramach stypendium rządu brazylijskiego dla profesorów wizytujących i naukowców z zagranicy (CAPES). |
