Summary:Thereisnogainsayingthatinthepresentdays,manypeoplespendmuchtimeonsocialmedia.This,nodoubt,revealsthatweareintheperiodofsocialmediarevolution.Thus,manypeoplereallystucktoitwhichsimplymeansgreatopportunitiesforMuslimpreacherstoexploitinDa'wahmethodology.However,manyYorubaMuslimpreachershavenotonlyturnedtheopportunitiestobecomethreattothegoodrepresentationofIslam,itisalsodestroyingandoffendingthesensibilityofotherMuslimsaroundtheworld,therebycreatingbadimageforIslamtonon-Muslimswhoarealsousersofsocialmedia.AcentralreasonforthisproblemistheinabilitytoapplyDivineDa'wahmethodologyhandlingandanalysingthelargeamountsofunstructuredtextualdatathatoftencharacterizesocialmedia.EventhoughsocialmediaplatformsarebettereasyaccessDa'wah,theyhavebeengrosslyabusedbytheYorubaMuslimpreachersinmanywaysandtheeffectsareenormouslyaffectingthepropagationofIslammostespeciallyamongYorubacommunities.Inthispaper,thevariousabusesofsocialmediabyselectedYorubaMuslimScholarsareexamined.ThequestionsofwhataretheeffectsandconsequencesofthemisuseofsocialmediabytheYorubaMuslimscholarsareanswered,usingqualitativemethodwitharchivaldocuments,combinedwithviewsofscholarsandobservationsmostlyonsocialmedia.ThepaperconcludesthatYorubaMuslimpreachersshouldalwaysabidebyDivineDa‘wahMethodologyasstipulatedintheQur’anandpracticedbyProphetMuhammad, in order to curtail the abusive usage of social media in Da‘wah system.
