Summary:ThispapergearedtowardsexaminingthesexualityinmarriageintheAfricaCulturalcontext.Thecontemporaryresearchworkhasshownthattherehasbeenaprogressivetrendstowardsanincreaseinpremaritalcoitius.Atleasteighty-fivepercentofadolescentshavehadsexualintercourseatonetimeortheother.IthasalsobeenconfirmedthatmanyNigerianadolescentshavepremaritalsexualintercourse(Oguntola2006).However,sexissaidtobeasacredaffairintraditionalAfricansocietyandordainedwithinmarriage.Theentirerangeofpastandpresenthumansocieties,marriagecanbedescribedasalegalunionofmanandwomanbasedonmutualagreement.However,agreatsignificanceisattachedtoavirginbride(Virgo-vitacta)andthisisthesocialbondforboththehighandthelowinYorubasocio-culturalsetting.Themoral-instincts(values)arescarcelyfoundandmaintainedinthemodernAfricansociety.Thispaperhighlyconcernedaboutthedeplorable,conditionoftherecentsocietywherepremaritalsexisthevogueandvirginityhasnovirtue.Alsotheobjectiveofthisworkistodelveintobiblicalandtraditionalrotefromthesocio-ethicalpointofviewandhistoricalmethodstoelicitour findings.
