Description
Summary:In the article the author tackles the question of the Vatican Eastern policy during John Paul II’s pontificate in the years 1985-1989, considering it against few critical factors: American-Vatican relations, including personal relations between John Paull II and the US President Ronald Reagan; general geopolitical conditions, including political processes in USSR, as well as the political situation in several Eastern Bloc countries. The Pope’s policy is analysed in the context of the Roman Catholic Church activity in Poland, taking into consideration its relatively influential position in the Eastern Bloc.
