| Summary: | The article presents the place and role of spirituality in the model of the Catholic parish priest according to students and priests. The theoretical and methodological part of the article elucidates the nature, specificity, sources and realization of human spirituality, with special reference to the spirituality of the parish priest. The question is posed whether the spirituality of the diocesan priest differs from the spirituality of the monastic priest, and where the difference lies. As for methodology, I present the object, problem and method of my own research on this issue, as well as respondents who participated in research, i.e. students and parish priests. The empirical part of the article analysis the ideas and appraisals of both groups of respondents concerning the plc end role of spirituality in the model of the parish priest and in the formation of clerical students. The research shows that the majority of priest and students participating in these activities claim that the personality and model of the parish priest play a considerable role in spirituality. However, only one third of respondents have a different attitude to this issue. Yet other respondents could neither correctly define spirituality and the spirituality of the diocesan priest, nor enumerate its basic characteristics and conditions of its realization in the life practice of the parish priest. The statements made by students and priests precisely shows their mindset, attitudes and appraisals concerning priestly spirituality which is visible in and realized through parish relations. |
