| Summary: | The aim of this article is to present selected techniques of inducing religious experience and cognitive, communicative and social processes and mechanisms underlying the experience of various phenomena as presences of supernatural beings and powers. Although the article is limited to experiences observed in selected religious communities of American evangelical Christians, its results can be applied to many other religious communities. The religious experiences discussed here are part of everyday life, and in this respect, they usually differ from esoteric experiences known from mystical traditions. |
