| Summary: | Joseph Ratzinger claims that the Catholic Church is in crisis. According to Ratzinger, one of the reasons why the church has so many problems nowadays is the deformation of the liturgy. Benedict XVI and Robert Sarah assert that the Mass needs much more silence. The text presents their ideas improving role of silence in the liturgy. At the beginning, I describe the sources of Ratzinger’s and Sarah’s thinking about silence. Then I present their thoughts about how the Mass can be more silent. At the end of text, I try to answer the question whether the Catholic Church has a problem with silence? |
