| Summary: | The article presents John Paul II’s poor judgment on the moral and religious status of the lay people. Such judgment is strictly linked with his objections to the religious and moral status of the married life as compared to the life of clerical celibacy. An in-depth analysis shows that the Pope’s views may lead to diminishing of moral and religious aspirations of the lay people. Denouncing the breach on human rights everywhere in the world, John Paul II seems to discriminate a large number of people belonging to the Church or which he was the leader. Moreover, the article shows that his views should also be regarded as encouraging lay people to be less moral and religious. |
