Description
Summary:The purpose of this article is to elaborate various types of the praxis of the New Age movement’s pilgrims in two so-called "places of power" in Poland. The first is the chakra on Wawel Royal Castle in Cracow, the second - the Goths’ megalithic circles in Węsiory in Pomerania, which were built in the 1st century AD. The authors analyze the discourse of praxis which take place in Cracow and Węsiory. They show the specificity of the new religiosity, which characterized the pilgrims of New Age. In the case of Poland, on the one hand, they are submerged in folk religion, but on the other hand, they describe visited "place of power" using the language full of scientific and quasi-scientific themes. It may be concluded, that in their lives it performs function similar to Catholic sacraments. Analysis of pilgrims’ language shows, that described praxis gives them strength and power (in conceptualization of Mircea Eliade they are constant elements of epiphany). Despite the differences between Catholic’s and New Age movement’s praxis, the similarity between the role which they fulfil is striking.
