Description
Summary:This paper presents the evolution of the character of a golem as well as its legend, from the religious connotations of Judaism to the reception and deconstruction of a given motif in popular culture. It focuses on the changes to a classical tale in protestant, Western societies, to whom the source material seemed uninspiring and hard to understand. These authors found their own, twisted idea of a golem and put it into several narratives. This paper quotes multiple versions of the story as well as main topics of Western interest in golem, leading the reader towards the contemporary tv series for teenagers and towards modern kids cartoons taking on the topic of golem and its derivation - snowlem.
