| Summary: | Cet article traite d'une énigme socio-historique: l'articulation du planning familial – à travers des centres dédiés – et du catholicisme. Comment expliquer l’engagement de catholiques s'identifiant comme tels dans la défense de la contraception et de la dépénalisation de l'avortement, alors que l'Église Catholique ne cesse de rappeler que la sexualité doit être conjugale et reproductive ? L'article examine le processus de création d'une normativité discursive et pratique autorisant le recours à la contraception et à l'avortement, par le biais d’ ‘outils’ catholiques, à savoir le pouvoir pastoral, à une époque de sécularisation. L'emprunt du concept développé par Michel Foucault permet de mettre en évidence la « gouvernementalité catholique » en matière de contraception et d'avortement, à savoir la « liberté responsable ». This article deals with a socio-historical enigma: the articulation of family planning – through dedicated centres – and catholicism. How come self-identified catholics ended up defending contraception and decriminalisation of abortion while the Catholic Church kept reminding that sexuality should be conjugal and reproductive? The article examines the process of creating a discursive and practical normativity allowing the use of contraception and abortion through a catholic ‘tool’, that is, the pastoral power at a time of secularisation. Borrowing the concept developed by Michel Foucault enables highlighting the ‘catholic governmentality’ regarding contraception and abortion, namely, the ‘responsible-freedom’. |
