| Summary: | We try to analyze folklore and ethnographic researches of Ivan Franko - Ukrainian and Polish scholar and co-founder of the Ethnological Association in Lviv. His paper about contemporary trends in folklore and ethno-graphic researches taken at the first meeting of the Association shows the understanding of methods and concepts of those researches and his views. Folklore and ethnographic researches contributed to the development of the religious studies. Franko was convinced that in order to know people an interdisciplinary approach is needed. This in turn resulted in the formation of newer and newer methodological orientations, ethnographic schools. And those research methods, particularly for so-called "spiritual culture", were then widely used also in religious studies. |
